A one-hole ceiling rose is a decorative item that is installed over the point at which a pendant light enters the ceiling or wall cavity. It is not essential and is more of a decorative item than an electrical component. Ceiling roses come in one-hole, multi-hole and side hole. They are also in a range of colours, sizes and styles. ...
Where do I use a one-hole ceiling rose?
Ceiling roses are not necessarily mandatory for pendant lighting. Instead, it is considered visually enhancing to tidy up the hole the electrician had made in the ceiling while hard wiring your lights. One-hole ceiling roses are used for each pendant light you are installing. For example, a series of three pendant lights above a kitchen bench would use three different one-hole ceiling roses.
How do I choose my one-hole ceiling rose?
You will not find a wider collection of decorative one-holes ceiling roses anywhere else in Australia! Firstly, begin with the size. Sometimes larger ceiling roses are required to cover larger holes made in the ceiling. Often ceiling roses are being added to beams or narrow spaces and so will require narrow ceiling roses to fit the space. When both of these issues are not an issue consider how the ceiling rose balances out the pendant light. Large shades and bulbs look best with 120mm ceiling roses. Petite E14 pendants may suit smaller ceiling roses. In general, the standard pendant would use a 120mm ceiling rose.
Next consider the colour and style. Choose between stylish brushed metals, classic porcelain, natural wood and brightly coloured silicone ceiling roses to give just a few examples. Ceiling rose colour can match the ceiling colour to make it visually recede or match the pendant components to complete the whole look. This is personal preference.
How can I customise my one-hole ceiling rose?
Every one-hold ceiling rose needs a cable clamp. This reduces the downward pressure on the whole pendant light. Cable clamps can be modified to suit your lighting look. The standard cone, a more sophisticated cylindrical or a longer clamp of 7cm or 15cm to create a customised light. Mix and match colours and styles to suit your taste. Those ceiling roses without external cable clamps like the porcelain series come with an internal flat clamp which weaves the cable through it. You don’t necessarily need to hang your pendant light in the same position as where the ceiling rose has been installed. The use of a decentralizer means a pendant light can be swung away from the one-hole ceiling rose and repositioned at the point of the decentralizer. Decentralizers are many and varied coming in different colours and styles to suit your requirements.
